Don't Forget the Unicorns

The Blonds stayed true to their name as they refined their colour palette to shades of platinum, beige and a touch of bronze, for their 10th Anniversary show, although this was no understatement. They were as dazzling as ever with sequins,studs and chain mail- the lot and don't forget the unicorns.

Laruicci's boldly futuristic and outrageous style made the perfect complement to the extravagant styles that made their way down the fantastical path that was the runway that night.

Out came the custom, sky high Louboutin's that had the effect of turning it's beautiful model into true Pegasus status.

Laruicci's oversized headphones bounced and gleamed in cohesion with the tribe of Blond Girl's bodacious wigs.

Not only were there highly structured elements borrowed from the Romans themselves but also Athleisure fit for the Queen or any queen for that matter, decorated with Preciosa crystals.

 We particularly loved this casual-not-so-casual neporene piece done up to the nines, a look we would all love to rock on a night out, especially when teamed with the slouchy socks and silver stilettos, although it had stiff competition from the Pegasus sweater dress, complete with lame wings.

With the beautifully executed use of metallics, silks, sequins and crystals, every Blond Girl was transformed into a being from another realm.

No Blonds show would be complete without Phillipe's grand finale, who came exhiliratingly close to being fully head to toe in crystal.

A Glittering Success

The worlds of Pegasus and Megawatt collided with an explosion of sparkles for The Blonds 10th Anniversary at NYFW; it's safe to say that everyone involved, rode that fantastical (unicorn) buzz with them for days afterwards.

That Hair, Those Headphones

The mythical vibes enthralled everyone involved, from backstage to the back row, to the point where we had to pinch ourselves to check if we were dreaming or to even see if we still existed among these 6 foot mythical creatures. The whole night was a dream come true and the Laruicci headphones were the perfect accessory to the Dolly Parton Gone Glam Rock wigs, that bounced around and filled the space backstage- that night, everyone was a Blond.

Dream Team

With the addition of bold neck cuffs and the Winged Divine Earrings, you could see how Laruicci and The Blonds had come together as the perfect collaboration, the lines between them blurred as one of the beautiful charcoal silk dresses was cheekily punctured with two horizontal "nipple" bars and their bejeweled cuffs became an extension of the wonderfully encrusted sweatshirts and silk corseted dresses.

Another World

As Lauren Ruicci breathed heavily to herself, "Are they even human?" it summed up the positively other worldly nature the models had taken on, with Louboutin's that would reach your neckline and the fog machine pervading the dressing area, it was nothing short of surreal. 

Apollo Gone Flash

The male models were not to be outdone either as they rocked silver laurel wreaths and over-sized armour like coats, they became futuristic Gods of the Greek with an injection of Flash Gordon, who was of course mashed up into the soundtrack.

As Phillip K. Dick once said, "The distinction between sanity and insanity is narrower than the razor's edge" and you have to admit there is a somewhat deviant delight in exploring the blurred line between these two states of being. Schön!
